District pairings set as playoffs approach

District assignments have been released for the 2025-26 Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) basketball championship series, placing several Okmulgee County schools – including Okmulgee, Morris, Henryetta, Beggs and Preston – into their postseason brackets. The assignments outline district hosts, potential opponents, and regional and area tournament paths as teams prepare for postseason play. District meetings to draw brackets and make recommendations for game officials were scheduled for Feb. 9, with official brackets and starting times to be released by Feb. 12 on the OSSAA website.

— Beggs, Morris & Henryetta (Class 3A-III)

Several county schools are grouped in Class 3A Area III, which includes Beggs, Morris and Henryetta.

Beggs is assigned to District 2, hosted at Chandler, Henryetta is assigned to District 4, hosted at Eufaula, and Morris is assigned to District 7, hosted at Victory Christian.

The regional main site for this area is Beggs, with sub-sites at Sequoyah (Tahlequah), while the area tournament will be played at the Mvskoke Dome.

These placements mean Beggs could potentially host regional action, depending on results and bracket outcomes, giving the Golden Demons a possible postseason advantage on their home floor.

— Okmulgee (Class 3A-IV)

The Okmulgee Bulldogs are placed in Class 3A Area IV. Okmulgee is assigned to District 5, hosted at Kiefer.

For teams advancing from this district grouping, the regional main site is Kellyville, with a sub-site at Kiefer. The area tournament will be held at Verdigris.

This path places Okmulgee in a competitive bracket featuring schools from northeastern Oklahoma and the Tulsa area.

— Preston (Class 2A-IV)

The Preston Pirates and Lady Pirates compete in Class 2A Area IV. Preston is assigned to District 5, hosted at Preston.

The regional main site will be Haskell, with sub-sites at Oktaha and Hartshorne. The area tournament site will be Henryetta.

Hosting district play gives Preston a home-court advantage in the opening round of the postseason.

– According to OSSAA instructions, district meetings are used to draw tournament brackets, recommend officials and compile win-loss records through early February for seeding consideration.

Seeding criteria may include OSSAA rankings, win-loss percentage, head-to-head results and, if necessary, a draw by lot.
