Philippians 2:3 – Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.
These words describe very aptly the heart of one seeking to portray Jesus. Whether we have been asked to do something or we notice a need and fill it, others will see Jesus every time. He didn’t ask about whether the lame, blind, or leprous deserved His help. He didn’t cast stones but prevented their being thrown. He didn’t judge the past of the Samaritan woman at the well when He offered redemption. We need to understand that as we reach ever higher toward heaven, we must stoop ever lower to help the world around us. We already know Jesus – they do not. Telling them about His glorious work is all well and good but convincing them of His presence with our behavior is what will draw them in.
