Morris Academic Team honored

The Morris High School Academic Team was recognized in the Oklahoma House of Representatives last Wednesday by House Tribal and External Affairs Leader Rep. Scott Fetgatter, R-Okmulgee.

The team won the 2025-26 Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association 3A Academic Bowl State Championship, the team’s fourth State Championship in a row. The championship competition was held Jan. 31 on the campus of Rose State College in Midwest City.

“I know this victory took an enormous amount of study and hard work,” Fetgatter said. “We so often recognize athletic teams, but I think it’s outstanding that we have a team from Morris that is achieving top honors for its academic knowledge. These students and coaches deserve our congratulations and our continued support.”

Fetgatter presented the team with a citation on the House floor that reads in part, the Morris High School Academic Team “represented their school with integrity, discipline and pride, achieving notable success in academic competitions and serving as role models for their peers.

“The commitment of the team, along with the guidance of their Coach Jeremy Avery and support from the school community, has fostered a culture of achievement, collaboration and lifelong learning.

“The Oklahoma House of Representatives is proud to recognize the Morris High School Academic Team for their unmatched dedication to excellence and education which has brought them this honor.”

The citation was co-signed by Sen. Bryan Logan, R-Paden.
