A collision involving a horse on April 11 resulted in injuries to multiple individuals after a vehicle crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming car, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:56 p.m. along Highway 56 Loop near Miami in Okmulgee County.
According to OHP, a 17-year-old driver from Okmulgee was traveling westbound when their vehicle struck a horse in the roadway. Following the impact, the vehicle crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane, where it collided with a second vehicle driven by 22-year-old Chase Adams of Morris.
The juvenile driver sustained injuries in the crash. A passenger in the vehicle was also reported injured. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Adams was also injured in the crash, along with both passengers in his vehicle. All occupants in the second vehicle were reported to have been wearing seatbelts.
No fatalities were reported in the incident.
Authorities did not release information regarding the condition of the horse.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol noted that all information remains preliminary and is subject to change as the investigation continues.
