If you love athletic events of all kinds, this week promises to be a sports-lovers paradise.
Participants of all ages will be competing in a variety of sports events this week as the Muscogee Nation and the community celebrate the Muscogee Nation Festival as it takes place Thursday through Sunday.
Over the past weekend, numerous sports events drew participants and spectators including volleyball, tennis rodeo, cornhole, horseshoes and more.
This week will see the following events take place around the Muscogee Nation.
• 48th annual Muscogee Nation Festival Junior Olympics – Athletes between the ages of 6-15 years. Friday, June 21, at Harmon Stadium, 699 E. 12 St. in Okmulgee.
Team lineup for introductions, welcome, prayer, National Anthem and Introduction of Dignitaries at 7 a.m. Events begin at 8 a.m.
• Golf Tournament – Friday, June 21, at Page Belcher Golf Course, 6666 S Union Ave. in Tulsa.
The Festival Golf tournament is currently full with 36 teams, but there is a waiting list. Please call 918-843-2170 or email gm@fountainheadgolf.com.
• Muscogee Nation Festival 5k & Fun Run – Saturday, June 22, at 7:30 a.m. The 350 pre-registration spots for the 5K in-person race have been filled. Participants may still register on the day of the race but will not receive a shirt.
• Pickleball Tournament – Saturday, June 22, at Hawthorne Park in Okmulgee. Novice at 8 a.m. and Advanced at 1 p.m.
