Students from Green Country Technology Center’s Health Careers and Medical Assisting programs brought home an impressive list of honors from the HOSA State Leadership Conference, highlighted by the program earning recognition as a prestigious Silver Star Chapter.
The annual conference showcases the skills and knowledge of future healthcare professionals from across the state, and GCTC students proved they are among the best, earning multiple top finishes and finalist placements in a wide range of competitive events.
Leading the medalists were several standout performances. Baylor Campbell captured a second-place finish in Pathophysiology, while Michael Elam also earned silver in Health Informatics (HCC). Bringing home bronze honors were Ava Teigland in Prepared Speaking (Post-Secondary) and Talan Dobson in Pathophysiology.
Other strong finishes included Karson Herbert, who placed fourth in Health Informatics (HCC), and Keyanna Smily, who secured fifth place in Extemporaneous Writing: Healthcare Policy, demonstrating both technical expertise and critical thinking skills.
In addition to the medalists, GCTC was well represented among the top finalists in multiple categories. Students earning finalist recognition included:
