Events planned for March 6, 9
The Henryetta Chamber of Commerce will hold two candidate forums, featuring residents listed on the April 7 Municipal Election ballot.
During the recent candidate filing period, four citizens filed for Ward 1 and four for Ward 2.
The forum hosted by the Henryetta Chamber will allow voters to become familiar with the candidates.
The first event will be held March 6, and will feature the four candidates for Ward 1.
The second forum, on March 9, will welcome the candidates for Ward 2.
Both forums will begin at 7 p.m. at the Henryetta Civic Center.
“We are going to hold the forums over two days to make sure all candidates have time to tell their story,” Henryetta Chamber President Jeremy Roberts said.
Ward 1 candidates are Bill Goodner, Steve Sanford, Annette Mission and Greg Williams.
Ward 2 candidates are Christy Jeffcoat, Shawn Buzan, Melissa Heminover and Vernon Vanmeter.
The forums will be moderated by Henryetta Chamber Interim Executive Director Bruce Jones.
Each candidate will have three minutes to tell about themselves, then will be asked a series of questions dealing with city government.
The forums will be recorded and shown on Thehenryettan.com as well as on the Chamber Facebook page.
“We want to make sure Henryetta continues to grow in the years ahead,” Roberts said. “That’s why it is important to have the right people serving on our city council.”
