As summer winds down and the school year quickly approaches, Henryetta Public Schools and Dewar Public Schools are rolling out the red carpet for students and families with a series of exciting back-to-school events aimed at building momentum for a successful academic year.
— HPS ready to welcome students
Henryetta Public Schools will kick off their back-toschool schedule Monday, Aug. 4, with elementary class announcements and enrollment.
Parents of elementary students (Pre-K through 5th grade) can learn which teacher their child will have this year by calling the elementary school at 918-652-6587.
Pre-K through 5th-grade enrollment will also be held at the Kindergarten building.
A week later, Henryetta will host its much-anticipated Open House on Monday, Aug. 11, from 4-7 p.m. with a schedule filled with informative sessions and school supply distribution.
• 4-7 p.m. – JOM supplies will be available at the high school gym. New students who are eligible may also pick up supplies at this time.
• 5 p.m. – 6th Grade Orientation in the HS/MS cafeteria
• 5:30 p.m. – High School Student/ Parent Meeting for Online Students in the HS library
• 6 p.m. – 9th Grade Orientation and Parent Handbook Meeting in the HS auditorium
• 6:30 p.m. – 10th–12th Grade Parent Handbook Meeting in the HS auditorium The first day of school for Henryetta students will be Wednesday, Aug. 13, with classes running from 8 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
— Dewar combines open house with
block party
Dewar Public School is going all out with their Open House & Block Party on Monday, Aug. 11, from 6-8 p.m. The event promises an evening of fun, foo, and school prep for families. Classes will begin on Aug. 13.
Highlights from Dewar’s event include a Meet the Teachers and drop off for elementary school supplies, a bounce house, water slide, food trucks, crafts and community resource booths. Sponsored by Dewar First Baptist and United Pentecostal Churches, the event is designed to offer a warm and festive welcome to students and families, with opportunities to connect with staff and enjoy some summer fun before the academic year begins.
-Both school districts are putting in tremendous effort to ensure a smooth, engaging and supportive start to the 2025-26 school year. Whether it’s attending orientations, meeting teachers or sliding down a water slide, students in Henryetta and Dewar have a lot to look forward to this August.
