The Henryetta Historical Museum continues to welcome guests through its doors this summer with its special every-other-weekend schedule – and this Saturday is no exception. The museum will be open July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering locals and visitors alike a chance to step back in time and experience the rich heritage of Henryetta.
“We’ve had a real fun summer being open every other weekend,” shared museum representative Brad Sellers. “Each time we open, someone brings in a story, a memory or a piece of Henryetta history.”
Recent visits have added new energy – and artifacts – to the museum’s collection. One young man stopped by searching for a photograph of his grandmother, who had once posed for the legendary lo- cal photographer Joseph Hardin. Hardin is remembered for capturing powerful images of Henryetta and its people over many decades, and his work remains an important part of the museum’s exhibits.
Another visitor donated a treasure trove of memorabilia: a bag full of newspaper clippings and magazines featuring football legend and Henryetta native Troy Aikman. The museum already features several Aikman-related items, and these additions promise to further enrich the story of one of the town’s most famous sons.
And in one heartwarming moment, a man brought his granddaughter to the museum to learn about life in Henryetta “in the old days.” For Sellers and the museum team, those moments of connection – between generations and across time – are what the museum is all about.
“Come and see us!” Sellers added. “Whether you’re looking for a specific piece of family history or just want to explore Henryetta’s past, we’d love to have you.”
The Henryetta Historical Museum, located in the heart of downtown, invites everyone to visit this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is free, and donations are always appreciated to help support the preservation of local history.
