Milestone Reached
By LARRY OWEN SPORTS EDITOR,

Sasakwa head girls basketball coach Rikki Wolfe reached a milestone two weeks ago at the Paden Tournament.

Rikki Wolfe earns 150th coaching win

Sasakwa head girls basketball coach Rikki Wolfe reached a milestone two weeks ago at the Paden Tournament.

On January 20, 2023, Wolfe earned her 150th career coaching win when her Lady Vikings defeated the host Paden Lady Pirates by a 53-50 margin in the semifinals of the 3-day event.

Since the milestone victory, the former Schulter basketball standout has began her journey towards Win No. 200 with three more wins in the next seven days. The Sasakwa ladies defeated a very talented Depew Lady Hornet team 64-58 in overtime in the finals of the Paden Tournament for Win No. 151, then knocked off the Moss Lady Pirates January 26 at home by a 53-40 margin for Win No. 152.

Wolfe’s latest coaching win came last Friday (January 27) at Weleetka with a 47-35 victory over the host Weleetka Lady Outlaws.

After 235 games in a span of 8-plus seasons, Wolfe holds a coaching record of 153-82.

Sasakwa had its home game against Maud on Tuesday canceled due to inclement weather and was scheduled to travel to Earlsboro Thursday for a regular-season contest with the Earlsboro Lady Wildcats.

After the scheduled road trip to Earlsboro, the Lady Vikings are scheduled for three more regular- season games in which to add to Wolfe’s record, beginning this weekend with a home game Friday against Mason and Saturday at Class B No. 4 Varnum.

The final regular-season contest for the Sasakwa girls basketball team in 2022-2023 will be Tuesday at home against Macomb.

The Lady Vikings will begin postseason play next weekend at the Class B, Area III, District 5 tournament in Macomb that will also feature Mason and Wilson (Henryetta) in the four-team tournament.

Wolfe began her head coaching career at Sasakwa in 2014, earning her first coaching win November 21, 2014, when Sasakwa defeated Macomb by a 58--49 margin.

Wolfe guided the Lady Vikings to back-to-back area tournament appearances in her first two seasons at Sasakwa.

In her third year at Sasakwa, Wolfe guided the Lady Vikings to their first state tournament appearance since 2009 and a 23-6 record.

Near the end of the 2016-17 season, Wolfe earned her 50th coaching win February 11, 2017, when the Lady Vikings began postseason play with a 48-19 win over Milburn in the Class B district championship game in Sasakwa.

On December 10, 2019, Wolfe was awarded her 100th coaching win in the Lady Vikings’ 59-45 road victory over Mason.

Below is the coaching record for Rikki Wolfe during her 8-plus seasons at Sasakwa.
