Henryetta School Board accepts four resignations

Henryetta Board of Education accepted four resignations during their regular monthly meeting on Dec. 9.

Resignations were from Tina Walters as high school cafeteria staff, Ronald Black who will retire as bus driver and paraprofessionals Shelly Bogle and Logan Ashley.

Brandon Brown with Sanders, Bledsoe & Hewitt presented highlights of the audit for the 2018-2019 school year, noting significant improvements from the previous year and no deficiencies.

“I think you guys are overall doing a good job,” Brown said to board members.

A brief public hearing ensued to allow any tribal officials or parents of Indian children to discuss the school’s impact aid program. No parents were in attendance.

Indian Education Policies and Procedures for 2019-2020 were reviewed and accepted.

Minutes of the Nov. 11 regular board meeting were tabled.

Before approval of the Special Board Meeting on Nov. 14, board members motioned to make corrections to the minutes including changing the time from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and spelling Misty Sweeney’s name correctly.

Encumbrances and financial reports were reviewed and approved.

Three fundraisers (band, Junior class and basketball boosters) were also approved.

Surplus items including TVs, TV stands, a 1999 Chevrolet van (noted as trash) and five bikes were approved to be sold or used as incentive/reward prizes for students.

Board members then convened into a nearly two-hour executive session for the evaluation of Superintendent Dwayne Noble. After returning from executive session, a six-hour cafeteria position opening for the remainder of 2019-2020 was tabled. In the Superintendent’s Report, it was announced that Henryetta Public Schools received a trophy from PSO for “Peak Performance.” The award is presented for reducing electricity use during times of high demand. Supt. Noble said the drywall has been fixed, walls have been painted and cleaning has been done on the new gym as they await the new floor to be installed and final cleanup. New buses that were recently ordered are anticipated to be in use by the second week after returning from Christmas break. Bus driver training on how to operate camera systems that will be installed in each bus will be held on Jan. 6. In final comments, Supt. Noble announced the LED lighting project has begun. Board members in attendance were Brandi Brown, James Williams, Misty Sweeney and Pam Bealko. David Bullard was absent. Rick Enis recorded minutes of the meeting.
