The Beggs Middle School Invitational brought together 27 teams in Beggs, with athletes from Beggs, Preston, Henryetta, Twin Hills and Schulter highlighting a full day of competition across sprints, distance races, relays and field events.
The meet featured strong performances from all five local programs, with multiple podium finishes and standout individual efforts shaping both the boys and girls divisions.
— Boys’ Competition
In the 8th grade boys division, Beggs earned one of the top relay performances of the day, capturing first place in the 4×400 relay with a winning time of 4:03.55. The victory helped set the tone for a strong overall showing in front of the home crowd.
Henryetta also put together a dominant day in relay action, taking second place in the 4×400 (4:24.46) and finishing second in the 4×800 relay with a time of 10:17.68. Preston followed closely in multiple events, including a fourth-place finish in the 4×200 relay (1:43.63), while Beggs placed sixth in the same race (1:44.26). Henryetta added an 11th-place finish in the 4×200 (1:58.72), and Twin Hills finished 12th in the 4×100 relay (56.04).
In sprint events, Preston’s Tyrell Dewberry finished seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 12.33, while Henryetta’s Grayson Gillispie claimed first place in the 800 meters (2:23.07). Henryetta’s Landon Chamberlain also placed fifth in the 800 (2:43.52), with Preston’s Hank Bales finishing ninth.
The 400 meters saw strong local representation, led by Beggs’ Jaylon Peters, who placed third in 1:05.30. Preston’s Karson Smith followed in fourth (1:06.13), while Preston’s TJ Bagby placed 11th in 1:04.68.
In distance competition, Preston’s Jaxton Hurt finished seventh in the 1600 meters (5:59.47), while Henryetta’s Micha Bevenue placed eighth in 6:04.99. Twin Hills’ Andrew Costanza took ninth in 7:56.66.
Hurdle events added intensity to the meet, with Henryetta’s Corbyn Edmonson placing eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (20.67) and also finishing eighth in the 300-meter hurdles (57.02).
In field events, Beggs and Henryetta each collected strong marks. Henryetta’s Aziah King placed fifth in the high jump (4-10), while Beggs’ Saxon Arthurs finished sixth (4-8). In shot put, Twin Hills’ Micco Campbell placed third with a throw of 31-02, while Schulter and Twin Hills also placed multiple athletes in scoring positions.
Beggs added key field contributions in discus, with Michael Cruz finishing second in the 8th grade division with a throw of 102-08. Tyrell Lyons placed sixth (83-07), and Dezy Portis finished seventh (80-08).
— Girls’ Competition
On the girls side, Henryetta and Beggs led the way among local programs with strong relay and individual performances across both grade levels.
In 8th grade action, Beggs earned a runner-up finish in the 4×400 relay, clocking 5:03.23, while Henryetta placed third in 5:10.84. Earlier in the meet, Beggs also took sixth in the 4×200 relay (2:02.65), showing consistency across sprint events.
Henryetta delivered a strong showing in the 4×100 relay, placing fourth with a time of 56.41, while Twin Hills finished 10th in 59.63. In the 4×800 relay, Beggs secured third place in 12:54.41, continuing a solid distance relay tradition.
In sprint competition, Twin Hills’ Millie Washington dominated the 100-meter hurdles with a first-place finish in 17.51. Henryetta’s Lakin Taylor added a fourth-place finish in 18.62. Washington also placed second in the 100 meters (13.65), while Henryetta’s Taylor finished third (13.92).
The 400-meter dash saw Henryetta’s Lakin Taylor take first place in 1:07.33, while Beggs’ Scarlett Tenison placed 12th. Henryetta’s Keegan Hardgrave added a sixth-place finish in 1:11.18.
Distance events featured strong efforts from Henryetta and Beggs athletes. Hardgrave placed third in the 800 meters (2:46.25), while Beggs’ Alyse Harvey finished 10th (3:03.68). In the 1600 meters, Hardgrave placed fourth (6:34.56), Harvey finished sixth (6:57.88) and Paisley Hilton placed 12th (8:04.06).
Twin Hills’ Millie Washington continued her standout meet by winning the 300-meter hurdles in 52.03.
In field events, Beggs’ Charlotte Clayton placed sixth in the shot put (22-04), while Twin Hills’ Journiee Longan finished 11th in discus (5101). Beggs also had representation in the long jump, where Ella Mudd placed 15th.
– With strong performances across all divisions and multiple local athletes reaching the podium, the Beggs Middle School Invitational showcased the depth of talent across the region. Coaches and athletes from Beggs, Henryetta, Preston, Twin Hills and Schulter will now turn their attention to the next stretch of the season as competition continues to intensify.
