— Meetings & Coordination
• Attended the Okmulgee County Board of County Commissioners meeting to provide program updates and ongoing project status.
• Participated in a coordination meeting with the American Red Cross to review sheltering capabilities, disaster response coordination and resource support protocols.
• Conducted a virtual meeting with Genasys regarding the countywide Mass Notification System implementation and deployment strategy.
• Coordinated with vendor OMNI-WARN Public Safety concerning progress and logistics for the Outdoor Warning Siren Project.
— Training & Professional Development • Completed online FEMA Floodplain Management Training to maintain compliance and enhance floodplain administration knowledge consistent with National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards.
• Attended the Unpaved Road Program Training in Pryor, Oklahoma, focusing on roadway mitigation strategies, infrastructure resilience and funding opportunities for rural transportation networks.
— Grants & Projects
• Received an official award letter from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management for project DR-4776-01 – Okmulgee County Outdoor Warning Siren Project. This project will enhance countywide alerting capabilities and strengthen severe weather preparedness.
• Continued coordination efforts related to installation planning, site verification and system integration for the Outdoor Warning Siren expansion.
— Mass Notification System Update • Conducted a soft rollout of the Genasys Protect Mass Notification System. The system was successfully utilized for controlled burn notifications conducted by the City of Henryetta, road closure notifications and internal activation testing for Emergency Management personnel. Residents are encouraged to enroll in the alerting system at bit.ly/okmalerts. The system provides geographically targeted emergency notifications and enhances situational awareness across Okmulgee County.
— Emergency Response Activity
• Five grass fires were reported countywide.
• Emergency Management responded to two incidents.
• Responded to one assistance request from the Okmulgee County Sheriff ’s Office for drone operations related to a vehicle located in a wooded area.
— Operational Outlook
Primary operational focus remains on Outdoor Warning Siren Project implementation, full public rollout of the Mass Notification System, wildfire monitoring and response coordination and continued interagency training and preparedness activities.
