Stallings ignites Beggs in home win over Kellyville
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES,

Beggs entered Tuesday night looking to assert control inside the friendly walls of the Demon Dome, and the home crowd delivered the energy. The building carried a pumped-up tone from warmups to the final horn, and the Lady Demons matched that intensity with a well-executed blend of aggressiveness on both ends of the floor. Behind a second- quarter scoring avalanche and a standout performance from senior Kamya Stallings, Beggs secured a 58-41 win over the Kellyville Lady Ponies.

The opening quarter was tight, with Kellyville edging ahead 9-8 after both teams tested early pace and settled into half-court matchups. But once the second frame opened, Beggs took full command. Stallings ignited the run with downhill attacks and perimeter scoring, stacking up 19 of her 22 points before halftime. The Lady Demons poured in 30 points in the period while holding Kellyville to just eight, turning a one-point deficit into a commanding 38-17 halftime lead.

That second-quarter surge became the decisive stretch of the contest. It didn’t just provide separation – it reshaped the night entirely. Kellyville attempted to claw back late behind scoring from Bretlynn Hansen and Kallie Martin, but the Lady Demons’ cushion absorbed every push. Kellyville outscored Beggs 16-8 in the final quarter, yet the gap remained too wide to threaten.

Offensively, Beggs delivered balance behind Stallings’ standout night. Three more players reached at least seven points, giving the Lady Demons multiple layers of production. Paydon Stallings finished with eight points, showing composure in the lane and timely scoring in transition. Emmabreah Triplett also chipped in eight, delivering steady play in the half court. Freshman guard Rylan Wesley added seven, attacking the rim late and providing scoring bursts when possessions slowed. Mylah Williams rounded out the totals with four points, helping Beggs extend possessions and contribute to inside spacing.

While scoring carried the narrative, Beggs’ defensive consistency built the foundation of the win. The Lady Demons contested dribble penetration, challenged shots at the rim, and forced Kellyville to work deep on several possessions. That discipline helped limit scoring in the middle frames and created opportunities to convert on the other end.

Kellyville leaned on Hansen’s 15 points and Martin’s 12 to keep the offense afloat, but outside of those two, points came in shorter supply. A late fourth-quarter push added life to the scoreboard, yet Beggs’ earlier work left little room for drama.

As the final minutes ticked down, the Demon Dome crowd stayed engaged, celebrating stops, baskets, and the closing sequences with hometown energy. It was the type of night that fit the tone of the building – competitive, loud, and eager to defend home court.

The win moves Beggs to 4-9 on the season, while Kellyville drops to 1-12. More importantly for the Lady Demons, Tuesday’s performance showcased a brand of basketball capable of putting pressure on opponents for full stretches. With solid scoring balance, defensive commitment, and a standout scorer capable of changing the pace, Beggs carries momentum into the next phase of the schedule. And with confidence growing in front of a supportive home base, the Lady Demons left the gym looking like a team determined to keep raising the bar.
