Beggs JH dominates Lady Bulldogs in season opener
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES,

The Beggs JH Lady Demons made an emphatic statement in their season opener on Tuesday, overpowering the Okmulgee JH Lady Bulldogs 25-6 at home. From the first pitch, Beggs showcased an offensive firepower that Okmulgee could not contain, while the Lady Demons’ defense kept the Bulldogs largely off balance throughout the contest.

Beggs exploded out of the gate in the first inning, scoring 14 runs to immediately set the tone. Paisley Kelley, Paisley Williams and Gentry Kelley each added a perfect 4-for-4 performance with multiple runs batted in. The early offensive barrage was complemented by Madi Jones, Alyssa Melton, Emilee Holland, Jesselee Whitecotton and Annabella Cruz, each contributing multiple hits and helping to build a commanding lead.

The Lady Demons continued their momentum in the second inning, tacking on 11 more runs. Gentry Kelley and Saige Courtney each delivered timely hits, while Nykla Mangum and Imani Rich added crucial RBIs to keep the scoreboard ticking. By the end of the third inning, Beggs had effectively put the game out of reach, scoring an additional three runs to bring the total to 25, while holding Okmulgee to just six over the first three frames.

Emilee Holland, on the mound for Beggs, delivered a composed performance, pitching three innings while allowing eight hits and six runs. Despite the heavy offensive load from Beggs, Holland maintained control, striking out two and issuing only two walks. Her efforts on the mound ensured that the Lady Demons’ early advantage would never be threatened.

Okmulgee struggled to find consistency, with scattered hits from several players, but the Lady Demons’ defense and pitching staff limited their scoring opportunities. Okmulgee’s pitching allowed 29 hits and 25 runs over 2.1 innings, illustrating the dominance of Beggs’ offense.

Every player on the Beggs roster contributed to the win, with team totals reflecting 33 at-bats, 29 hits and 25 runs batted in. The balanced offensive attack and steady pitching performance highlighted the Lady Demons’ readiness for the season ahead.

With a 1-0 start, Beggs’ Lady Demons will look to continue their momentum as they prepare for upcoming matchups, showing early that this season could be one to remember for the Beggs program under new Head Coach Jess Driver.
