One Step Closer
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

The road to December glory is narrowing, and the Dewar Dragons are still charging full speed ahead.

With the season on the line Friday night, Dewar delivered its most complete performance yet – dominating the Waurika Eagles 48-0 to punch their ticket to the OSSAA Class B State Semifinals. The Dragons didn’t just win. They controlled every snap, every series, and every inch of turf, never allowing Waurika to find the scoreboard.

It was Dewar’s ninth victory this season by a margin of 46 points or more, a staggering testament to just how explosive – and disciplined – this group has become.

The shutout also extends Dewar’s incredible home winning streak to 12 straight games, dating back to last year. This season, the Dragons’ defense has been nearly impenetrable, surrendering an average of just 4.3 points per game. Waurika never found a solution for the relentless Dewar front, and by the second half, the Dragons were in cruise control.

The win lifts Dewar to 10-2, and with momentum on their side, the Dragons now turn their attention to a semifinal showdown that promises to be one of the most anticipated matchups in the state.

— Hollis awaits after win over Quinton

On the opposite side of the playoff bracket, the Hollis Tigers continued their hot streak, knocking off the Quinton Savages 28-14 to earn their seventh straight win and improve to 10-1.

Hollis brings a punishing ground attack – and they showed it Friday.

Kreid McQueen ran wild for 137 yards and a touchdown, while Lincoln Bronn added 94 total yards. The Tigers piled up 226 rushing yards, their highest total in nearly two seasons, and controlled the tempo throughout.

Quinton put up a fight behind Trenttyn Shamblin (115 rushing yards) and Mikey Perez (66 receiving yards, 1 TD), but the Tigers’ physicality sealed the deal.

That sets the stage for a titanic semifinal battle: Dewar vs. Hollis at 7 p.m. Friday at Alex High School.

Both teams have been defensive powerhouses – each allowing just 11.8 points per game – meaning points will come at a premium. It’s the kind of matchup hardworking teams like Dewar dream of: strength against strength, momentum against momentum and a state championship berth on the line.

Tickets are available on OSSAA.com via GoFan.co.

— Dragons on the Cusp of History Dewar has been here before – but this year feels different. The Dragons are battle-tested, hungry and playing their best football at the perfect time. One more victory sends them to the State Championship.

Friday night at Alex High School, under the bright semifinal lights, the Dragons will have their chance.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Dewar vs. Hollis. Winner goes to the State Finals. Get ready, Dewar fans. The Dragons are one step closer.
