Nichols Park will rumble to life later this month as chrome-clad pickups, classic haulers, and modern street trucks roll in for the inaugural Tailgate Throwdown Truck Show, set for Saturday, June 21. Organizers say the one-day showcase is designed to celebrate Henryetta’s deep-rooted truck culture while offering a family-friendly summer outing. — Event Schedule
• 10 a.m. – Gates Open – Spectators may enter free of charge and stroll the park’s shady lanes as exhibitors stage their vehicles.
• 12 p.m. – Judging Begins – A panel of local automotive enthusiasts will evaluate entries on paint, modifications, overall presentation and crowd appeal.
• 3 p.m. – Awards Ceremony – Trophies and bragging rights will be handed out to class winners, best of show and the much-anticipated “People’s Choice” pick.
• 4 p.m. – Show Concludes – Organizers ask participants to exit the grounds promptly to allow park crews ample cleanup time.

Anyone wishing to show a truck vintage or late-model – can register on site for $20 per vehicle. Pre-registration is not required; however, space is first-come, first-served. Drivers should arrive early for prime parking.

— Park Rules & Safety To keep the event safe and enjoyable, the following guidelines will be strictly enforced:
• No burnouts or reckless driving.
• All vehicles are subject to inspection upon arrival.
• Absolutely no glass containers are allowed inside Nichols Park.
• Pets must be leashed, and alcohol is prohibited per city ordinance.

A variety of food trucks and merchandise vendors will line the park’s main loop, serving everything from smoked brisket and tacos to shaved ice. Local artisans will also offer truckthemed apparel and accessories.
During the May Henryetta City Council meeting, Coordinator Daniel Lyons said the Tailgate Throwdown may bring in about 150 entries, along with the hundreds of attendees throughout the day. Directional signage will be posted the morning of the event, and volunteers will assist with traffic flow at the main gate.
