Lady Pirates succeed in recent action

Lady Pirates crush Mounds behind explosive second inning A massive second inning proved too much for the Mounds Lady Eagles as the Preston Lady Pirates rolled to a 13-0 victory on Friday.

Preston scored eight runs in the second, highlighted by a three-run homer from Na’Braijhanae Phillips, two-RBI doubles from both Sophia Bunner and Ashleigh Hurt and an RBI double by Taylan Starr.

Phillips started the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single, and later scored on a tag-up. Caris Tecumseh added an RBI double, and Bunner followed with a two-run single to make it 5-0.

Kristin Holuby earned the win, throwing three shutout innings and allowing only two hits with no walks or strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates tallied 14 hits in total. Bunner drove in four runs and went 2-for-2. Phillips, Olivia Beaver, Kynlee Martin, Tecumseh, Bunner and Starr each collected two hits.

• Caris Tecumseh – RBI — Beaver’s bat powers Preston over Henryetta Olivia Beaver delivered a standout performance, driving in four runs to help the Preston Lady Pirates dominate the Henryetta Lady Knights 11-0 on Friday.

Beaver launched a three-run homer in the first inning and followed with an RBI single in the second. Josie Cope added an RBI single in the first, and Kynlee Martin blasted a three-run homer in the second as Preston poured on the runs.

Kristin Holuby pitched four strong innings, allowing just two hits and one walk to earn the win.

The Lady Pirates finished with 12 hits, including two apiece from Phillips, Cope, Beaver, Holuby and Starr.

• Kristin Holuby – RBI — Bunner’s inside-the-park slam lifts Lady Pirates over Okmulgee Preston’s Sophia Bunner lit up the scoreboard with a rare inside-the-park grand slam during a dominating 15-0 win over the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs on Friday at the Okmulgee Tournament.

The Lady Pirates scored 11 runs in the first inning. In addition to Bunner’s slam, Isabella Turner tripled in three runs, Alynn LeBlanc added an RBI single, and Aiyana Beaver also contributed an RBI.

Kristin Holuby earned the win in relief, striking out two in a scoreless inning.

Preston racked up 12 hits, led by LeBlanc and Brooklyn Gertner with two apiece.

• Tyleigh Edwards – RBI — Lady Pirates storm back to stun Savanna The Preston Lady Pirates overcame an early fiverun deficit to surge past the Savanna Lady Dawgs 15-7 on Saturday at the USA Softball Hall of Fame.

Na’Braijhanae Phillips sparked the comeback with a third-inning homer. Errors and a fielder’s choice added three more runs as Preston regained the lead. In the fourth inning, the Lady Pirates exploded for six runs, highlighted by two-RBI singles from Olivia Beaver, Kynlee Martin and Sophia Bunner.

Kristin Holuby tossed six innings for the win, giving up six hits and seven runs (only one earned) while striking out two.

Josie Cope went a perfect 4-for-4, while Martin and Aiyana Beaver each drove in four runs.
