Dewar struggles against Westmore

The Dewar Lady Dragons fought hard but couldn’t hold off the powerhouse Westmoore Jaguars, falling 16-6 on Thursday. Despite an explosive start featuring back-to-back home runs, the Lady Dragons struggled to keep pace with the Jaguars’ offensive onslaught.

Dewar wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, as Kinsey Maldonado smashed a solo home run to set the tone. Emmy Hall followed up with another homer in the fifth, proving the Lady Dragons’ resilience.

However, Westmoore quickly flipped the script in the bottom of the first, erupting for six runs on four hits, including a costly error that plated two. The Jaguars weren’t done yet, delivering a seven-run second inning powered by two three-run home runs from Murphy and Tini.

Cali Thomason took the mound for Dewar, battling through four and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 hits and 16 runs (10 earned) while striking out two. Despite the rough outing, the Lady Dragons’ offense managed 10 hits, with Maldonado, Hall, and Raygin Thomas each collecting two.

Murphy was a dominant force for Westmoore, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while the Jaguars’ defense played a flawless game, committing zero errors.

Despite the loss, the Lady Dragons showed flashes of their offensive power and will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup.

— Lady Pirates overpower Dickson, 11-3 The Preston Lady Pirates put on a dominant display at the plate, using a six-run fourth inning to surge past Dickson, securing an 11-3 victory at Latta on Thursday.

Alynn LeBlanc, Ashleigh Hurt and Taylan Starr all delivered key RBI singles in the fourth, setting up Kristin Holuby’s three-run bomb to center field, which sealed the deal for Preston.

The Lady Pirates set the tone early, scoring in the second inning on a Caris Tecumseh RBI single. They added three more in the third when Na’Braijhanae Phillips knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly, followed by a two-run shot from Josie Cope.

Holuby not only dominated at the plate but also in the circle, pitching five strong innings, allowing just three runs (one earned) on eight hits while striking out one.

Preston’s bats were on fire, racking up 15 hits. Holuby led the team with three RBIs, while Olivia Beaver had a perfect 3-for-3 day. Cope, Sophia Bunner, and Starr also delivered multiple hits, keeping pressure on the Dickson defense.

Bayli Boswell led Dickson’s effort, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, but the Lady Comets couldn’t match the Pirates’ relentless offense.

— Preston struggles against Southmoore The Preston Lady Pirates fought hard but were overpowered by the Southmoore Sabercats in a 16-3 defeat on Thursday at Latta Public School.

Southmoore jumped out to a commanding start, scoring four runs in the first inning before delivering a crushing eight-run second inning on nine hits. Josselyn Tarver’s solo home run and a flurry of RBI singles kept the Sabercats in control.

Tarver was also dominant in the circle, allowing just seven hits and three runs in five innings. Preston’s Kristin Holuby struggled against Southmoore’s high-powered offense, surrendering 16 runs (11 earned) on 21 hits.

Olivia Beaver led Preston’s offense, going 2-for-2 at the plate, while Ashleigh Hurt, Alynn LeBlanc, and Caris Tecumseh each drove in a run.

Despite the loss, the Lady Pirates have a quick turnaround as they prepare to take on the Haskell Lady Haymakers, hoping to bounce back with a strong performance.

Beggs came out swinging, putting up a staggering 12 runs in the first inning. Emma Trimble doubled to drive in two, Ruby Tenison tripled to bring home two more, and Haylee Baughn added an RBI triple before Thompson capped off the scoring frenzy with her jaw-dropping grand slam.

The Lady Demons continued their offensive explosion in the second, scoring five more runs. Destiny Chisum and Angel Aylor delivered clutch RBI singles before Abigail Harmon’s two-run triple put the game completely out of reach.

In the circle, Ruby Tenison was nearly untouchable, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out two in two and two-thirds innings.

Beggs’ lineup was unstoppable, racking up 18 hits. Thompson and Harmon each had three-hit performances, while Aylor, Trimble, Chisum and Tenison also recorded multiple hits.

Okmulgee struggled to keep pace, managing only two hits in the game.

With another dominant win under their belt, the Lady Demons continue to build momentum, showcasing their explosive offense and sharp defense as they prepare for their next challenge.
