Mary Avis Hedrick

Mary Avis Hedrick, a cherished resident of Dewar, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Henryetta at the age of 95. Born on August 26, 1929, in Kusa, she was the daughter of Euel Finch and Alda (Morgan) Finch. Mary’s life was a tapestry of dedication to her family, community and various vocations.

For 36 years, Mary served the Henryetta and Dewar communities through her work at TG&Y, followed by a five-year tenure at Walmart. Her commitment extended beyond her professional life; she actively participated in local governance as a former Henryetta Council member. Her affiliations with organizations such as the Red Hatters, the Rebekah Lodge and the Lioness Club highlighted her dedication to community service and camaraderie. Mary was a devout member of the Church of Christ and also attended services at Dewar First Baptist Church alongside her niece, Jean.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Emmett Hedrick, her son Randy Watteau, three brothers, three sisters and her stepchildren: Bill Hedrick, Gene Hedrick, Deanie Bookout and Faye Reed.

August 26, 1929 – March 10, 2025

She is survived by her grandson Ian Watteau and his wife Janie of San Antonio and four great-grandchildren. A special niece, Jean Goodman, held a significant place in her heart. Additionally, Mary is survived by a stepdaughter, June Moore and a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Visitation for Mary will be held from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Integrity Funeral Service. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Dewar First Baptist Church, with Rev. Ryan Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta. Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service, ensuring that Mary’s legacy of love, service and community will be honored and remembered by all who knew her.
