Dragons crowned Regional Champions

The Dewar Dragons powerlifting team showcased their strength and determination at the 2025 Oklahoma Powerlifting Coaches Association (OPCA) Southeast Regional Meet on March 8 in Hartshorne, bringing home the Regional Championship title. Under the leadership of firstyear Head Coach Marshall Been, the Dragons sent 14 lifters to compete, ultimately securing 150 team points to clinch the top spot.

With their dominant performance, eight Dewar lifters placed in the top five of their respective weight classes, earning a coveted spot at the OPCA State Meet in El Reno on March 15. The Dragons will head to state with their eyes set on defending their 2024 state championship title.

Powerlifting is an individual strength sport where competitors perform three barbell lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. Each lifter is given three attempts per lift, with the heaviest successful weight counted toward their total. Points are awarded based on individual performance, and the team with the most cumulative points is crowned the overall champion.

Dewar’s lifters delivered powerful performances across multiple weight classes, proving their strength and dedication. The team stood out in their new Luv Ford-sponsored shirts, making their presence known among the competition.
