Batter Up!
By PATRICK FORD Editor,

Tomlinson, Dragons power past Wetumka The Dewar Dragons opened their baseball season in spectacular fashion, shutting out Wetumka 16-0 on Monday. Aiden Tomlinson delivered an impressive performance, driving in four runs with two hits, including a home run to left field in the third inning.

Dewar wasted no time taking control of the game, scoring three runs in the first inning after Peyton Kilhoffer’s two-run single and a passed ball. They added another in the second before exploding for six runs in the third and six more in the fourth, sealing the dominant victory.

Pitcher Luke Hankins was unstoppable on the mound, allowing zero hits and runs while striking out seven over three innings. Ayden Been closed out the game in relief, striking out two in his single inning of work.

Stats

• Aiden Tomlinson – 2 H, 4 RBI, 1 HR

• Peyton Kilhoffer – 2 H, 3 RBI

• Luke Hankins – 2 H, 3 RBI

• Jeron Brison – 1 H, 2 RBI

• Braelin Lewis – 1 H, 1 RBI

• Tanner Wilson – 1 H, 1 RBI The Dragons racked up nine total hits and took full advantage on the base paths, stealing eight bases. Up next, Dewar returned home to face Haskell on Tuesday.

— Eagles struggle against Metro Christian The Morris Eagles faced a tough challenge on Monday, dropping two games against Metro Christian, 14-0 and 18-0.

In the first matchup, Metro Christian overwhelmed Morris early, scoring four runs in the first two innings. Eli Grange started for the Eagles, giving up four runs without allowing a hit in 1.2 innings. Despite walking six times as a team, Morris couldn’t generate enough offense to counter Metro Christian’s firepower.

Rowan Ramirez and Dayton Andrews each had a hit, while Landon Martin got on base twice with a pair of walks.

The second game was decided early when Metro Christian scored nine runs in the first inning, capitalizing on walks, errors and timely hits. Morris’ Lance Clark went 2-for-3 at the plate, leading the team’s offense, while Ramirez stole two bases.

The Eagles will look to bounce back when they take on Eufaula on Thursday.

— Bulldogs fall to Chandler in season opener The Okmulgee Bulldogs struggled in their season debut, falling to the Chandler Lions in two games, 11-1 and 11-0.

In Game 1, Chandler jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first two innings. The Lions capitalized on Bulldogs’ defensive miscues, adding seven more runs throughout the game. Okmulgee’s lone run came in the second inning when Brandon Simon singled in a runner.

The second game followed a similar pattern, with Chandler scoring six runs in the first inning and never looking back. Okmulgee struggled at the plate and was held hitless by Chandler’s dominant pitching.

The Bulldogs will try to regroup as they travel to Meeker for their next game on Thursday.

– Stay tuned for more updates as the high school baseball and softball season gets underway.
