Wilson Tigers, Lady Tigers battle at Regionals

The Wilson Tigers and Lady Tigers showcased their resilience and competitive spirit in the Regional Tournament, facing strong opponents and earning a spot in the upcoming Area Tournament in Seminole on Thursday.

— Tigers Dominate Sasakwa Behind Ke’shon Shelburn’s 34-Point Performance The Wilson Tigers made a statement in their 82-51 victory over Sasakwa on Friday, powered by an explosive performance from Ke’shon Shelburn, who dropped 34 points. Despite a slow start that saw Sasakwa jump out to a 9-0 run, Wilson quickly found their rhythm and took control.

Leading 35-26 at halftime, the Tigers extended their lead with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Sasakwa 26-9. Ke’shon Shelburn and Charles Shelburn fueled the surge, each scoring 10 points in the frame. The team’s sharp shooting inside the arc (23for-35) and strong rebounding (35 total boards) played a crucial role in securing the win.

Against Earlsboro, the Lady Tigers held a slim lead throughout the game. A strong defensive performance in the third quarter allowed them to create a cushion, leading 45-36 heading into the final frame. They held off a late push from Earlsboro to seal the victory.

However, Lookeba-Sickles turned the game around with a dominant third quarter, outscoring Wilson 28-5 to take full control. Despite a strong effort, Wilson couldn’t recover and fell 62-41.

— Tigers Fall to Dover, Move to Area Tournament Wilson faced a tough defensive battle against Dover on Monday, falling 36-25. The Tigers controlled the game early, leading 21-17 at halftime. However, a decisive 19-point run by Dover in the second half shifted the momentum, and Wilson was unable to recover.

Despite the loss, Wilson put up a strong rebounding effort, securing 26 boards. Ke’shon Shelburn led the scoring with six points, while several teammates contributed in a balanced attack.
