Marceau Roland

Marceau Roland passed away on his 94th birthday, February 6, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Memorial services are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Marceau Roland was born in Schulter on February 6, 1931, to Marceau C. Roland, Sr. and Louise Emilia Jadoul Roland. Marceau was the eldest of four children born to this union, all a first generation born in America. He started school at the age of 5 in the Schulter Public School System and attended school there until 1940, when his parents moved to Henryetta, graduating from Henryetta High in 1948. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Southeastern State University at Durant. He graduated from Southeastern in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics and a minor in physics and chemistry.

Shortly after graduation, Marceau was inducted into the U.S. Army. He received both his basic and advanced training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After completion of his advanced basic training, he was sent to New York City and assigned to the Florida National Guard unit stationed there, which was activated when the Korean War began on June 25, 1950. The Florida Guard was in the process of being de-activated, and Marceau was one of many of the first replacements which later became the 749th AAA Gun Battalion, a part of New York City’s air defenses. Marceau became the Fire Control Chief for the range platoons and operated the computer. He was discharged from active duty on June 19, 1954, at Camp Kilmer, N.J.

Less than two months later, Marceau began his career with Pittsburg Plate Glass Company Works #10, in Henryetta as an Industrial Engineer. He held several managerial positions at Works #10, including from 1959-1963 as Assistant Wareroom Superintendent, February 6, 1931 – February 6, 2025

Manager of Production Planning & Customer Service from 1964-1969 and Wareroom Superintendent from 1970-1973.

On August 18, 1957, Marceau married Mary Katherine Masino in First Methodist Church of Henryetta. A daughter, Juli Ann, was born on September 8, 1961, at Henryetta Hospital.

In July 1973, Marceau was selected to the team to build a new Float Glass Plant in Wichita Falls, Texas. He and his family relocated to Burkburnett, Texas, where he resided until 2007. In July of 1989, Marceau and Mary moved to the Peoples Republic of China to assist in the supervision of a joint venture glass operation in Mainland China. Upon completion of his China assignment, he retired in April 1992, after 39 years of service to PPG Industries.

In August 2006, Marceau and Mary began construction of a new home in Wichita Falls. On Thanksgiving Day, 2007, they moved into their new home, where they lived blissfully until November 8, 2013, when Mary was stricken with a life threatening illness. After a valiant and courageous battle, she succumbed to her illness on April 29, 2014.

Marceau is survived by his daughter, Juli Ann Roland Schweitzer and husband, Jordan; a sister Mary Lou Mabry; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and in-laws, Rose Yarmoski, Betty Lou LeJeune (Sam), Gloria Jean Payton (Richard) and Charlene Roland.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lunncolonial. com.
