Dogs in need of fostor, adoption

As several popular songs remind us the seasons and times change, we at the Okmulgee County Humane Society (OCHS) will change and adjust too. The one remaining constant here in Okmulgee seems to be animals in need of forever homes. We know at OCHS we have announced before that we not only need folks to step up to save, rescue, foster and adopt animals from the city shelter in danger of being euthanized, we also pay for dogs to be boarded. There are many reasons why dogs land in private boarding. Most recently, it seems the fosters have had life changing events, or the dog was too much weight to handle, or the yard was not secure enough for master-manipulating escape artists. While we understand these issues, quite frankly it’s not enough to just save a dog from being euthanized. We must also save them from living in a boarding kennel situation. Yes, they are well cared for, but a boarding kennel is not the same as a loving family. Currently, we have six in boarding and we need loving family situations to give them their forever homes. We invite you to consider Zeppelin, Regina, Cooper, Rudolph, Ellie Mae and Theseus. All six are available for rescue, foster or adoption.

Adoption events don’t seem to work like they used to. Maybe it’s a post Covid thing? We don’t know, but what we do know is the best way to meet your new furry best friend is to submit a free, no obligation adoption application. Our team will review and if we think it’s a good fit, we’ll schedule a meetand-greet. You’ll never know until you try! We further invite you to take one out on a trial run. You can take one for a Doggy Day Out, a walk around the block or even a doggy sleepover.

Our team is standing by for your notice to help us help them. We urge you to reach out at www.okmulgeehumane. org to complete the rescue of one of these fantastic six!
