Henryetta to serve as regional cross country meet site

A total of 97 Oklahoma high schools are scheduled to invade Henryetta’s historic Nichols Park this Saturday to compete at one of three regional cross country championship meets.

Postseason event to begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at Nichols Park

A total of 97 Oklahoma high schools are scheduled to invade Henryetta’s historic Nichols Park this Saturday to compete at one of three regional cross country championship meets.

Fifty-six teams in Class 2A, 21 teams in Class 4A, and 20 teams in Class 3A will battle for a chance at earning a spot at next weekend’s state cross country championships at Edmond Santa Fe High School in Edmond.

The top seven teams and top seven individuals not on a qualifying team from each class will punch their ticket to next Saturday’s state meet in Edmond.

Saturday’s regional meet will get underway at 9 a.m. with the Class 4A girls 2-mile race, followed by the Class 4A boys 5K race at 9:45 a.m.

The Class 2A regional meet will begin at 11 a.m. with the girls 2-mile race, followed at 11:45 a.m. with the boys 5K race.

The Class 3A regional meet will close out the event, beginning with the girls 2-mile race at 1 p.m., followed by the boys 5K race at 1:45 p.m.

There will be a coaches meeting one hour prior to the beginning of each classes’ girls 2-mile race.

Tickets for the regional meet can be purchased for $7 + fees on ossaa.com or $10 cash at the gate.
