A Morris man has entered a guilty plea in a federal assault case.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Tuesday that Cameron Austin Burgess, 22, entered the guilty plea to Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily Injury to a Spouse, Intimate Partner, or Dating Partner in Indian Country.
Burgess could face at least five years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, or both.
He is accused of the assault on March 4, “a spouse, intimate partner, and dating partner, resulting in substantial bodily injury,” the indictment stated.
Charges arose from an investigation by the Henryetta Police Department, Okmulgee Police Department, District 25 Violent Crime Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
