Harlan Ford's Toy Drive has come to an end and this year was bigger and better than ever. McIntosh Tumbling in Henryetta, Tavern 56, Jandebeurs Motor Sports, Okmulgee Fraternal Order of Police and Okmulgee Department of Human Services (DHS) partnered with Harlan Ford to bring Christmas presents to foster care children in Okmulgee.
This was the fourth annual toy drive hosted by the car dealership.
It ran from Nov. 25 through Dec. 18, which gave people nearly a full month to bring toys to businesses.
By the end of the drive, all participants had filled seven truck beds full of toys.
Harlan Ford owner, Fred Harlan also challenged individuals to help them collect 20 bikes this year. At the end of the drive they had surpassed that goal by 10 whole bikes.
Thirty foster children will get to enjoy the thrill of seeing a bike next to the tree on Christmas thanks to the generosity of Okmulgee County.
Toys were all gathered and sorted at Harlan Ford on Tuesday before being taken down to the DHS office. Athletes of the McIntosh Tumbling team were on hand to help sort, load and unload the toys and bikes. Many of the DHS workers also came out to help unload the toys and get them inside the building where they will be distributed out to families.
Harlan Ford would like to extend a thanks to everyone who donated. As they said in a social media post after the drive concluded, “We ask and you provide to us above and beyond what we thought we would have.”
