Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Speaker Lucian Tiger III submitted two petitions last week to the MCN Election Board in the results for the Primary Election for Principal Chief.
“Two petitions concerning the Principal Chief results from the absentee ballots have been filed and the Election Board cannot certify the Principal Chief results until the recount and hearings have been conducted,” MCN Election Board Manager Nelson Harjo said.
A recount for Principal Chief is scheduled for Wednesday morning. Tiger finished third behind David Hill and former Tulsa District representative Bim Stephen Bruner by only 10 votes.
A hearing is set for Friday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. before Judge Jeremy Pittman on the complaint filed Friday afternoon with the Muscogee (Creek) Nation District Court by Tiger. The top two finishers in the election will be placed on the Nov. 2 General Election ballot. Runoffs for the Nov. 2 ballot will be: Okmulgee (Seat A) – William Lowe and Carmin Tecumseh-Williams. Creek District (Seat A) – Joseph Hicks and Dean Hughes. Muskogee (Seat A) – Mary Crawford and Lora Harjo-King. Tukvpvtce (Seat A) – Anna Marshall and Rufus Scott. Wagoner (Seat A) – Charles McHenry and Dierdra Soap.
