Members of the Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 paid their respects to the family of World War II veteran Frank Garcia on Monday afternoon at the Civic Center in Henryetta at 4 p.m. Several of Garcia’s family members are pictured above next to a tribute table in his honor. A Henryetta resident, Garcia enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He received the EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Silver Star Medal/Meritorious Unit Award and World War II Victory Medal. A memorial service for Garcia was held at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with military honors at 2 p.m. Monday.
