Patricia Bear competed in the Oklahoma Restaurant Association (ORA) Culinary Cook-Off at the State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City in the Bennett Center Aug. 13 and Aug. 14.
A Henryetta resident, Bear was assistant chef to Chef Marc Guinoz of the Golf and Country Club located in Nichols Hills.
Bear and her team won first place in the cook-off.
“As an assistant chef I won $250 and Guinoz won $2,500,” Bear?? said.
A current Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSUIT) Culinary Arts student, Bear is a Veterans Service Officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 539 in Henryetta.
Also, she is a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Future Chefs of America, honor society and the ORA.
For a total of 21 years, Bear served in the military; 17 years in the Army National Guard and four years in the military.
