Henryetta Lollygaggers earn state tournament spot

The Henryetta Lollygaggers will be joining 16 other teams at the Coach Pitch State Tournament in Clinton Tuesday, July 9 to Saturday, July 13. Starting the Coach Pitch Regional Tournament

The Henryetta Lollygaggers will be joining 16 other teams at the Coach Pitch State Tournament in Clinton Tuesday, July 9 to Saturday, July 13. Starting the Coach Pitch Regional Tournament against the Caddo Bruins, the Lollygaggers earned their first win defeating the Bruins 7-4.

Carrying their luck from the first game into Saturday’s games, the Lollygaggers run-ruled the Muskogee Thunder, a tough oppponent, 14-7 in four innings. With a 2-0 record, the Lollygaggers remained undefeated when they went up against the Morris Hurricanes. The Lollygaggers secured a spot in the regional championship game with a 14-7 win over the Hurricanes. They also punched their ticket to the Ok Kids Coach Pitch State Tournament. According to one of the coaches, the Lollygaggers was the only team to make it throughout the tournament bracket undefeated.

In the regional championship game, the Lollygaggers met a familiar foe on the field - the Morris Hurricanes. After defeating the Hurricanes 14-7, the Lollygaggers faced a heartbreaking 17-10 loss for the regional runner-up.

8U Coach Pitch Teams from around Oklahoma will converge at Clinton, fighting for the title of State Champions. Brackets have been split into Red and Blue divisions with eight teams in the Red Bracket and eight teams in the Blue Bracket.

The Henryetta Lollygaggers have been placed in the Red Bracket, while the Morris Hurricanes will fight their way through the Blue Bracket.

State tournament games began Tuesday afternoon with the Henryetta Lollygaggers set to play the Morrison Black Tuesday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m.

If the Lollygagers beat the Black, they will continue through the bracket and will play Wednesday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m. But if they are defeated, the Lollygaggers will play Wednesday, July 10 at 5 p.m.

Games will come to a head Friday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. with the winner of the blue bracket going head-to-head with the Red Bracket winner on Saturday at 1 p.m.
