With the spring track season beginning to hit full stride, athletes from across eastern Oklahoma gathered on April 3 for the 2026 Okemah 12th Annual High School Track Meet, where area competitors from Henryetta, Morris, Preston, Wilson and Schulter turned in a series of strong performances against a deep and competitive field.
From sprint champions to distance standouts and relay contributors, local athletes made their presence known throughout the day, highlighted by Henryetta’s Gavin Williams capturing gold in the 400 meters and multiple podium finishes from Lady Knight standout Stormi Waquie.

Henryetta once again demonstrated its depth across multiple events, particularly in the sprints, middle distance races, and relays.
Senior Gavin Williams delivered one of the top performances of the meet, winning the boys 400-meter dash in 51.86 seconds, securing 10 points for the Knights and establishing himself as one of the top quarter-milers in the region.
Williams wasn’t finished there. He also anchored Henryetta’s 4×400 relay team, which placed third overall with a time of 3:41.71, finishing just behind Skiatook and Dewey in a tightly contested race.
The Knights’ sprint relays also produced solid results: • 4×100 Relay – 5th (46.19)
• 4×200 Relay – 6th (1:36.54) Meanwhile, Henryetta’s girls distance program was led by senior standout Stormi Waquie, who turned in a pair of runner-up finishes:
• 800m – 2nd (2:42.24)
• 1600m- 2nd (6:02.56) Waquie also played a key role in the Lady Knights’ relay success. The 4×800 relay team finished third (11:32.25), while the 4×400 relay squad placed fifth (4:41.60), showcasing the team’s versatility in both distance and sprint relays.
Additional contributions for Henryetta included:
• Camrynn Watkins – 5th in 400m (1:08.44)
• Ashlynn Fulton – 9th in 1600m (6:36.12)
• Adrian Ashley – 11th in Boys 800m (2:23.95)
• Tyson Wieland – 37th in 100m (12.35) Overall, Henryetta’s consistent finishes across multiple events helped both the boys and girls teams remain competitive in the team standings.

The Lady Eagles’ relay teams were among their top performers:
• 4×200 Relay – 5th (2:00.31)
• 4×100 Relay – 8th (58.46) Individually, Morris saw strong efforts from:
• Taylor Phillips – 7th in the 100m (13.35)
• Sutton Giddens – 11th in the 100m Hurdles (19.27)
• Madilyn Stacy – 11th in the 300m Hurdles (59.00) Distance runner Amy Gehring also posted a respectable finish in the 1600 meters, placing 12th (6:37.59).
On the boys side, Morris fielded competitive relay teams:
• 4×200 Relay – 12th (1:43.86)
• 4×100 Relay – 12th (50.53) Sprinter Keith Richardson led the Eagles in the 400 meters, finishing 26th (1:01.32), while teammates Isaiah Pannell and Ausbrooks Gage contributed in sprint events.

Freshman standout Hayden Rider earned a 4thplace finish in the 3200 meters (14:47.50) and followed it with a 15th-place finish in the 1600 meters (6:45.62), showcasing endurance and consistency.
In the hurdles, Gunnar Goss delivered one of Preston’s top finishes of the day:
• 110m Hurdles – 3rd (19.15)
• 300m Hurdles – 8th (48.65) Preston’s relay teams also competed well:
• 4×100 Relay – 10th (48.92)
• 4×200 Relay – 11th (1:43.82) Additional individual efforts included:
• Caden Hollier – 21st in 100m (11.93)
• Maleik Terrill – 26th in 100m (12.05)
• Joey Martinez – 43rd in 200m (26.25) — Schulter continues building program depth Schulter athletes continued to show improvement, particularly in hurdle events.
Junior Larry Bess led the Bulldogs with:
• 8th – 110m Hurdles (20.57)
• 51st – 100m (12.80) Teammate Dexton Henderson also competed in both hurdle events:
• 12th – 110m Hurdles (21.98)
• 14th – 300m Hurdles (53.06) On the girls side:

While full team scores showed Mannford as a dominant force throughout the meet – particularly in girls relays and distance events – other programs also made strong showings.
Mannford dominated the girls division with wins in multiple relays and distance races.
Liberty controlled the boys sprint events, winning both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, while Preston Wilhite claimed gold in both the 100- and 200-Meter events.
Skiatook and Dewey remained competitive across distance and relay events.
Among individual standouts:
• Addison Raphel (Destiny Christian) swept the girls 100m and 200m
• Kinley Thompson (Okemah) won the girls 400m
• Scott Horton (Dewey) captured both the 800m and 1600m titles
