Members of the Dewar Indian Community are being called to participate in a special election later this month, with all positions currently vacant and open for nomination.
According to the official notice , the election will take place Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Dewar Indian Community Center, located at 903 E. 6th St. in Dewar.
Organizers state that nominations for office will be accepted from the floor during the meeting, giving eligible community members the opportunity to step forward and serve. Voting will be conducted by secret ballot.
To be eligible for a leadership position within the Dewar Indian Community, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Must reside within the Dewar Creek Community boundaries
• Must be at least 18 years of age Individuals wishing to vote in the election must:
• Be an enrolled member of the Muscogee Nation • Have established residency within the Dewar Creek Indian Community boundaries
