7th-grade girls battle 9th at Checotah Meet
The Beggs 7th grade girls track and field team competed hard Tuesday at the Checotah meet, finishing ninth overall while collecting valuable experience and several solid individual performances across multiple events.
In the sprint events, Beggs athletes posted steady times throughout the day. In the 100 meters, Autumn Fleetwood led the way with a time of 16.12 seconds, followed closely by Braylee Ware at 16.65. In the 200 meters, Shania Phillips recorded a time of 35.84, while Allie Keys finished in 36.09.
Distance competition saw Jentry Hilton turn in one of the top performances for Beggs, placing fourth in the 1600 meters with a time of 7:59.00. Hilton’s effort provided one of the stronger finishes of the day for the Lady Demons.
Relay competition also contributed to the team’s overall scoring. The 4×100 relay team placed fifth with a time of 1:07.74, while the 4×200 relay team finished sixth in 2:16.84. Both relay squads showed determination against a deep field of competitors.
In the field events, Beggs continued to gain experience, including efforts in the shot put and discus as athletes worked to improve marks and gain competition exposure throughout the meet.
While the team finished ninth overall, the meet provided valuable opportunities for growth and development as the Lady Demons continue building confidence and consistency in each event group.

Relay competition was a key strength for Beggs throughout the day. The 4×100 relay team earned second place with a time of 56.45 seconds, while the 4×200 relay also finished second in 2:07.39. The 4×400 relay continued the trend, securing second place with a time of 4:54.16, highlighting the team’s consistency across all relay events.
In individual events, Alyse Harvey led the distance group with a thirdplace finish in the 800 meters at 3:02.00. Scarlett Tenison followed in fifth at 3:15.00. Tenison also contributed in the 400 meters with a thirdplace finish in 1:15.63, while Haley Rusher placed sixth in 1:19.27.
The 1600 meters added more points for Beggs, with Harvey finishing third in 7:05.00 and Ella Mudd placing fifth in 7:16.00. Their performances helped anchor the Lady Demons’ distance scoring.
In the 100-meter dash, Hayley Rusher, Reagan Richardson and Abigail Callahan each competed well, posting times of 16.21, 16.22 and 17.29 respectively. In the 200 meters, Richardson and Callahan added additional points with times of 34.10 and 37.14.
The Lady Demons also saw success in field events, including a fourthplace finish from Charlotte Clayton in the shot put with a throw of 23 feet, 7 inches.
With strong relay performances and consistent scoring across distance and sprint events, the 8th grade girls secured a third-place finish overall, continuing a strong showing for Beggs across all divisions at Checotah.
