The Beggs girls track team turned in an impressive showing Friday at the Glenpool Invitational, competing against larger schools across multiple classifications while demonstrating depth in relays, sprints and distance events.

The relay teams were a highlight of the day. The 4×100 relay squad, consisting of Emmbreah Triplett, Kamya Stallings, Payten Turner and Padon Stallings, crossed the line in 52.47 seconds, placing fifth overall. The 4×200 relay, featuring Triplett, Stallings, Rylan Wesley and Padon Stallings, finished sixth in 1:51.5, giving the team a solid early-season benchmark in sprint relays.

In individual sprints, Tr Turner led the 100 meters with a time of 14.08 seconds, while Rylan Wesley finished in 14.15. The 200 meters featured a strong showing from Triplett, who ran 28.57 seconds, contributing to the team’s competitive presence in short-distance races.

Distance events were represented by the 800 and 3200 meters, with several runners gaining valuable experience in the longer races. The team’s participation in these events emphasized the girls’ balance of speed and endurance and helped the squad accumulate points across multiple disciplines.

Field events also highlighted Beggs’ versatility. While specific distances for long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and discus were not recorded, the athletes competed alongside larger schools and held their own in a challenging invitational environment.

Coach Jason Sport praised the team for their focus and determination throughout the meet. “It was great to get things going and I loved watching our team compete,” he said. “There were a lot of bigger schools here, but at the end of the day we are competing against the clock and trying to be the best version of ourselves. The sky is the limit for our team.”

The Glenpool Invitational featured a deep field of competitors, including Class 6A schools like Bixby, Broken Arrow, Muskogee and Ponca City, Class 5A schools including Bishop Kelley and Glenpool, as well as Class 3A and 4A programs. Beggs represented Class 3A alongside Okmulgee and Sequoyah (Tahlequah), demonstrating the team’s ability to compete effectively against a variety of schools.

The girls’ team also showed teamwork and consistency in their relay handoffs and sprint transitions, which will serve them well as the season progresses. The experience gained from racing against larger and more established programs will help the athletes continue to improve and set personal bests in upcoming meets.

With a combination of sprinting, distance running and field event participation, Beggs girls track proved they can compete across the board, gaining valuable points and confidence heading into the remainder of the season.

Coach Sport concluded, emphasizing the value of competition and personal growth: “It was great to get things going and I loved watching our team compete. There were a lot of bigger schools here, but at the end of the day we are competing against the clock and trying to be the best version of ourselves. The sky is the limit for our team.”

The Beggs track teams will take to the track again on Saturday, March 28, at Stroud, striving to improve on their recent efforts and maintain their competitive edge.
