Beggs storms past Sperry in 9-5 win The Beggs Lady Demons battled back from an early deficit and used a patient approach at the plate to secure a 9-5 win over the Sperry Lady Pirates in regular season action Thursday at the Muscogee Nation’s Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee.
After falling behind early, Beggs responded with timely hitting and disciplined at-bats that helped swing the momentum back in the Lady Demons’ favor. Sperry opened the game with a fourrun first inning. The Lady Pirates capitalized on early opportunities, pushing runs across on a combination of offensive pressure and defensive miscues before adding an RBI single by Strunk to take a 4-0 lead.
Beggs quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning with a four-run frame of their own to tie the contest. The Lady Demons strung together key at-bats to erase the deficit, highlighted by a run-scoring single from Willow Herod. The rally allowed Beggs to settle in and regain its footing after the difficult start.
The Lady Demons moved in front in the second inning. Ruby Tenison delivered the go-ahead hit, lining a single that drove in a run and gave Beggs a 5-4 advantage.
Both teams settled into a quieter stretch over the next two innings before Sperry pulled even again in the fourth. Bustamonte singled to center field to drive in a run and tie the game at 5-5, setting up another response from Beggs.
The Lady Demons regained control in the bottom of the fifth inning with their most productive rally of the night. Beggs displayed patience at the plate as Taytum Mills and Abigail Harmon each drew walks that forced in runs. Emma Trimble followed with a groundout that brought home another runner, giving the Lady Demons a three-run inning and an 8-5 lead.
Beggs added an insurance run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 9-5 before closing out the game defensively in the final frame.
Tenison handled the pitching duties for the Lady Demons and worked all seven innings in the circle. The righthander allowed six hits and five runs, though none were earned, while walking just one batter. Tenison threw 63 pitches with 40 strikes as she kept the Lady Pirates from building momentum after the opening inning.
Tenison also led Beggs at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 to record the team’s only multi-hit performance of the game. Herod drove in two runs from the middle of the lineup with a 1-for-3 outing.
Several Lady Demons contributed to the offensive effort as Beggs finished with five hits on the night. Abby Yandell, Avery Been, Abigail Harmon and Emma Trimble each added hits to support the attack.
The Lady Demons’ patience at the plate proved to be a key factor in the win. Beggs drew 11 walks during the contest, consistently putting runners on base and creating scoring opportunities. Harmon, Yandell and Aliyah Vernon each earned two walks to help keep pressure on the Sperry defense.
For the Lady Pirates, Wolfe led the offense with three hits in three at-bats, while Strunk and Bustamonte each drove in a run.
Kennedy took the loss for Sperry after pitching six innings. She allowed five hits and nine runs, six of which were earned, while issuing 11 walks.
With the victory, the Lady Demons completed a resilient comeback performance, turning an early deficit into a four-run win through steady pitching, timely hitting and a disciplined approach at the plate.
— Lady Demons break through to defeat Yale, 6-1 A four-run third inning proved to be the difference for the Beggs Lady Demons as they pulled away for a 6-1 victory over the Yale Lady Bulldogs in a regular season matchup Friday in Yale.
After two scoreless innings to open the game, Beggs found its rhythm in the third and never looked back, combining timely hits with disciplined atbats to create the separation needed for the win.
Both teams struggled to generate offense early as pitchers on both sides kept hitters in check through the first two frames. Beggs pitcher Emma Trimble settled in quickly in the circle, working around early traffic and keeping Yale from capitalizing on its opportunities.
The Lady Demons broke through in the top of the third inning with their most productive stretch of the afternoon. Beggs pushed four runs across the plate during the rally, turning a scoreless contest into a 4-0 advantage.
Ruby Tenison and Trimble delivered key offensive contributions during the inning, each helping bring runners home as the Lady Demons capitalized on opportunities with runners on base. Additional runs scored during the frame as Beggs continued to apply pressure and extend the inning.
With the momentum firmly on their side, the Lady Demons added two more runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 6-0. Trimble once again played a key role offensively, driving in runs as Beggs built a comfortable cushion heading into the final innings.
Yale managed to break up the shutout effort in the seventh inning, scoring its lone run of the game, but Beggs maintained control and closed out the contest to secure the five-run victory.
Trimble led the way in the circle for Beggs, turning in a strong performance against the Lady Bulldogs lineup. The right-hander worked four innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out three and walking one. Trimble threw 54 pitches in the outing, landing 33 for strikes while limiting Yale’s ability to produce multiple runs in an inning.
Offensively, the Lady Demons spread production throughout the lineup. Trimble and Tenison proved difficult for Yale to navigate in the middle of the order, each driving in two runs during the game.
Beggs finished with six hits overall. Abigail Harmon collected a hit and scored a run, while Tenison added a hit to go along with her two RBIs. Trimble paced the Lady Demons with two hits and two runs driven in during a productive afternoon at the plate.
Tatum Mills and Kaylynn Hamilton also contributed hits for Beggs as the Lady Demons consistently found ways to keep runners moving around the bases.
Beggs also demonstrated patience at the plate, working counts and drawing several walks to keep pressure on the Yale defense and extend scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Defensively, the Lady Demons were solid throughout the contest and did not commit an error in the field. Brooklyn Hazelwood was especially active defensively, leading Beggs with four fielding chances as the team turned in a clean performance behind its pitching.
For Yale, Kinsey Pittser led the Lady Bulldogs offensively with a 2-for-2 day at the plate and drove in the team’s lone run. Yale also turned a double play defensively and played error-free ball in the field, with Kinley Thurman recording a team-high four defensive chances.
Pittser also handled the pitching duties for Yale, throwing four innings while allowing six hits and four runs. She walked four batters during the outing as Beggs took advantage of extended opportunities during its key third-inning rally.
With the win, the Lady Demons combined steady pitching, patient offense and a clean defensive effort to secure another strong showing during the regular season.

The Beggs Lady Demons wasted little time establishing control Friday, using a powerful offensive showing and steady pitching to defeat the Cleveland Lady Tigers 10-1 in a runrule shortened game at Cleveland High School.
Beggs plated runs in four consecutive innings and finished with 13 hits while playing clean defense to secure the regular-season win.
The Lady Demons jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Ruby Tenison delivered the biggest swing of the inning, driving a double into the outfield that brought home two runs. Beggs added another run moments later when Taytum Mills grounded out, allowing a runner to cross the plate and giving the Lady Demons a quick 3-0 advantage.
Beggs continued to build momentum in the second inning with two more runs. Willow Herod lined a single that helped push a run across, and Abby Yandell followed with a fielder’s choice that produced another score as the Lady Demons extended the lead to 6-0.
The offensive pressure continued in the third inning. Avery Been delivered an RBI single that stretched the Beggs lead to seven runs as the Lady Demons continued to keep runners moving around the bases.
Beggs added another three-run surge in the fourth inning to push the lead to double digits. With contributions throughout the lineup, the Lady Demons built a 10-0 advantage and placed themselves firmly in control of the contest.
Cleveland managed to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Lady Demons maintained the comfortable margin and closed out the game after five innings under the run rule.
Tenison led the way both at the plate and in the circle for Beggs. The righthander pitched all five innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out one and walking none. Tenison needed just 44 pitches, throwing 33 strikes as she kept Cleveland from putting together extended rallies.
Offensively, Tenison also powered the middle of the lineup. She finished 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a game-high three runs, highlighted by her first-inning double.
Beggs’ lineup produced contributions up and down the order. Herod collected two hits and drove in two runs, while Abby Yandell added two RBIs as part of the Lady Demons’ balanced attack. Abigail Harmon added an RBI and also recorded a double, while Mills and Been each drove in a run.
Aliyah Vernon and Averee Davis also recorded two hits apiece for Beggs. Davis added a double during the contest as the Lady Demons consistently applied pressure to the Cleveland defense.
In total, Beggs accumulated 13 hits while also drawing three walks to keep runners on base throughout the game.
Defensively, the Lady Demons were just as sharp. Beggs did not commit an error and turned a double play during the contest. The defensive highlight involved Abigail Harmon at first base, who led the team with five fielding chances and helped anchor the play that erased a Cleveland baserunner.
For Cleveland, Gabby Smith led the Lady Tigers offensively with two hits in two at-bats from the leadoff position. Deslynn Tilton recorded Cleveland’s lone RBI.
Tilton also started in the circle for the Lady Tigers, pitching five innings while allowing 13 hits and 10 runs, nine of which were earned.
Beggs will return home after Spring Break to host a busy slate of games at Claude Cox Complex in Okmulgee, beginning with the Preston Lady Pirates on Monday, March 23. The Lady Demons will host Dewar Tuesday, March 24, followed by a doubleheader against Checotah and Okmulgee on Thursday, March 26.
