The Beggs Golden Demons returned to their home field last Thursday looking to build momentum early in the season but ran into a strong Dewey squad that capitalized on early opportunities and claimed a 13-1 victory.
Dewey wasted little time setting the tone, using a big first inning to grab control of the game. The visitors plated five runs in the opening frame, beginning with an RBI single by Chase Miller. Mason Snellgrove followed with another run-scoring hit before Jackson Fox drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home another run. Dewey continued to pressure the Beggs defense, and a miscue allowed two more runs to cross the plate as the inning closed with Dewey The festival begins Thursday with four matchups, including a junior varsity game to open the event. Dewar’s JV squad will take the field against Barnsdall at noon before the Dragons’ varsity team faces Barnsdall at 2 p.m. Later in the afternoon, Vian will meet Moss at 4 p.m., followed by Moss taking on Gore in the evening game at 6 p.m.
Action continues Friday with another full day of baseball featuring four contests. The day begins at 11:30 a.m. when Am-Po faces Vian. Dewar will return to the field at 1:30 p.m. to take on Am-Po. The late afternoon matchup features Barnsdall and Vian at 3:30 p.m., while Moss and Gore close out the day with a 5:30 p.m. contest.
The festival concludes Saturday with three more games. Dewar opens the final day with a 10:30 a.m. matchup against Gore. Gore then returns to the field to play Vian at 12:30 p.m., and the event wraps up with Dewar facing Moss at 2:30 p.m.
For the Dewar Dragons, the festival provides a valuable opportunity to compete against several quality programs while giving coaches a chance to evaluate their teams in live game situations early in the season. With multiple games scheduled over the three-day span, the tournament will test pitching depth, defensive execution and offensive consistency.
The festival also serves as an opportunity for the Dewar community to rally behind its baseball program and welcome visiting teams and fans. Early-season tournaments like this often help build momentum and set the tone for the remainder of the spring schedule.
Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the teams throughout the event. With several closely matched programs in the field, fans can expect competitive games and plenty of exciting moments on the diamond.
