• Miss Helen Tiger hosted the teachers and officers of the First Baptist primary department for a Valentine‑themed gathering at her home on West Division. Red and white decorations, carnations, and Valentine touches set a festive tone for an informal evening of visiting and fellowship. A salad course was served to guests, including Miss Iva Rambo, Miss Mildred Hare, Miss Alice Tiger, and Mrs. Susan Tiger. Department members attending included Mrs. Tom Fronabarger, Mrs. Mittie Hampton, Mrs. C.C. Ingram, and several of the primary teachers.
• Buck Campbell, a former Garfield County legislator and editor of the Waukomis Hornet, spent several days in Henryetta visiting his daughter, Mrs. Russell Hughes. The paper described him as “a well known man, making his chief fame as a republican member of the legislature.” During his visit, Campbell spoke highly of Senator Otjen as a strong candidate for governor and said he would also gladly support Jim Hepburn if nominated.

• Youth from seven area Assembly of God churches gathered at the Henryetta Civic Center for their district sweetheart banquet, where a sweetheart queen would be selected. Henryetta’s representative was Kathy Cathcart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. “Willie” Donathan. The evening’s guest speaker, George Brazell, brought an impressive background as an educator, administrator, broadcaster, author, and speaker who had addressed audiences in 25 states. Brazell was also scheduled to speak at both Sunday services at the local Assembly of God Church.
• A new access road from the Henryetta city landfill to Dewar was opened after backhoe operator L.V. Bailey cleared the route. County Commissioner A.H. “Red” Coleman announced that the project would make it easier for Dewar residents to reach the dumping area. Under a new agreement between the county and Henryetta officials, a county employee would assist at the landfill, which would now remain open for dumping seven days a week.
