Municipal, bond issues on ballot Tuesday

Early voting for Okmulgee County residents wishing to cast ballots in the Feb. 10 Election continues through 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Courthouse.

On Election Day, which is next Tuesday, Feb. 10, residents may cast votes at their respective precincts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The following municipal posts and school bond issues are on the ballot.

— City of Okmulgee Councilmember, Ward 2

• Steve Baldridge (Incumbent) • Eddie Nelson Jr.

Citizens are reminded that any registered voter in the City of Okmulgee can vote in this election.

— Henryetta Public Schools Special School Bond Voters residing in Henryetta Public Schools (Independent School District No. 2) will decide whether the district should be authorized to issue bonds totaling $19,240,000.

If approved, the bond funds would be used for:

• Construction of school buildings

• Equipping school facilities

• Repairing and remodeling existing school buildings

• Purchasing school furni- ture, fixtures and equipment • Acquiring and improving school sites The bond would be repaid through an annual tax levied on property within the district. The measure states the bonds would carry an interest rate not to exceed 10 percent per year, payable semi-annually, and would be scheduled for repayment over a period not to exceed 13 years.

— Twin Hills Public Schools Special School Bond

Voters living within Twin Hills Public School District (Elementary School District No. 11) will consider a separate bond proposal totaling $940,000.

If approved, the bond funds would be used for:

• Construction of school buildings

• Equipping school facilities • Repairing and remodeling existing school buildings

• Purchasing school furniture, fixtures and equipment

• Acquiring and improving school sites Like the Henryetta proposal, the Twin Hills bond would be repaid through an annual property tax within the district. The bonds would carry an interest rate not exceeding 10 percent per year, payable semi-annually, and would be repaid within 10 years.

— Voter Eligibility

Voters that have a child enrolled in a school district are not automatically eligible to vote in that district’s bond election.

Voter eligibility should be verified through the OK Voter Portal on the Oklahoma State Election Board website or by contacting the Okmulgee County Election Board directly. If no sample ballot appears in the OK Voter Portal, the voter is not eligible to participate in the upcoming election.

For additional information about early voting, voter eligibility or assistance options, voters may contact the Okmulgee County Election Board at 918-756-2365 or by email at OkmulgeeCounty@ elections. ok.gov.

Election officials encourage all eligible voters to make a plan and take advantage of early voting to ensure their voices are heard in these important local elections.
