Hicks explodes for 30 as Tigers top Mason

The Wilson Tigers delivered a commanding performance Tuesday night, rolling to an 84-30 victory over Mason behind a lights-out offensive effort from Rylan Hicks, who poured in a game-high 30 points.

Wilson seized control early and never allowed Mason to gain traction, showcasing efficiency on offense and dominance on the boards throughout the contest. The Tigers steadily built momentum in the opening half, surging to a 50-17 halftime advantage and effectively putting the game out of reach.

Hicks ignited Wilson’s scoring surge in the second quarter, catching fire from beyond the arc and racking up 21 points during the frame alone. His nine made three-pointers highlighted the Tigers’ strong perimeter shooting and energized Wilson’s balanced attack.

Wilson outscored Mason 32-9 during the pivotal second quarter, turning a comfortable lead into a runaway performance. The Tigers continued to apply pressure in the second half, and after holding a 58-27 lead, Wilson unleashed a 24-point scoring run that stretched the margin to 82-27, which was the team’s largest lead of the night.

Wilson’s success extended beyond longrange shooting. The Tigers displayed strong interior play, converting 19-of-26 attempts from two-point range while controlling the glass with 39 rebounds. Boston West led Wilson’s rebounding effort with seven boards, helping the Tigers limit Mason’s second-chance opportunities.

Ball movement also proved to be a key factor in the lopsided win. Wilson recorded 26 assists on 34 made field goals, demonstrating unselfish play and crisp offensive execution. Jacquorrie Shelburn directed the offense effectively, finishing with a team-high six assists.

While Hicks led the offensive charge, Wilson received scoring contributions across the roster. Talan Dobson added 15 points, while Alec Ganote chipped in 13 points to give the Tigers multiple scoring threats.

Additional contributions came from Daniel Buchanan with five points and Jacquorrie Shelburn with four. Tepoyv Williams, Aiden Barnard and Ethan Carney each finished with three points. Esiah King, Andrew Wilson, Ke’shon Shelburn and Zechariah Tecumseh added two points apiece, underscoring the Tigers’ depth.
