Luke 12:2 – But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.
We all may have something we wish not to share with our closest friend or even our spouse. Yet keeping that secret from all of humanity doesn’t hide it from God. There are probably many things we need not blurt out or shout from rooftops, but confessing them openly to the One whose awareness covers everything simultaneously means cleansing and freedom. When we acknowledge our weaknesses, our failures and our sins before Him and seek His forgiveness, we can then put them aside as if we have locked them up. These transgressions are wiped away with our repentance. We must retrain our brain to forgive ourselves and stop harboring guilt and regret for the past, since it is done and cannot be undone or redone correctly. God’s grace and forgiveness will more than suffice when we humble ourselves before Him. The day will come when we stand before God and are confronted by our secrets, but we can choose right now whether we wear a cloak of shame or one of forgiveness.
