Wilson squads stay hot as busy week unfolds across county

The Wilson Tigers continue to build momentum on the hardwood, coming off a strong showing at the Konawa Tournament and capping the week with a decisive home win Tuesday night. The Wilson Lady Tigers were equally impressive, rolling to a dominant victory of their own as county teams gear up for another full slate of basketball action.

Coach Grant Proctor also garnered his 100th win as he leads the Tigers squad.

— Tigers split at Konawa Tournament

Wilson opened tournament play Thursday with a solid 60-52 victory over Seminole behind a double- double performance from Ke’shon Shelburn, who finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Tigers led 20-17 at halftime and broke a 30-30 tie with a decisive nine-point run to seize control.

Wilson’s balanced effort included 36 total rebounds, 14 assists on 23 made baskets, and three blocked shots. Alec Ganote added 15 points, Aiden Barnard scored 13 and Jacquorrie Shelburn chipped in nine.

On Friday, Wilson came up just short in a back-and-forth 69-67 loss to Byng in a game that featured 25 lead changes. Wilson carried a 40-38 halftime advantage, fueled by Ke’shon Shelburn’s 15-point second quarter, but couldn’t hold off the Pirates late.

Shelburn poured in 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while Jacquorrie Shelburn added 19 points and seven assists. Wilson connected on 12 three-pointers and finished with 33 rebounds and three blocks.

The Tigers closed tournament play Saturday with an impressive 86-74 win over Holdenville. Ke’shon Shelburn led all scorers with 32 points as Wilson pulled away after halftime, leading 43-38 at the break and never relinquishing control.

Wilson shot efficiently from inside the arc, went 10-of-23 from threepoint range, and tallied 22 assists. Aiden Barnard scored 18 points, Esiah King added 10, and Jacquorrie Shelburn finished with nine.

— Wilson pulls away from Braggs on Tuesday Wilson carried that momentum into Tuesday night, defeating Braggs Varsity Wildcats 80-61 in another strong all-around performance. Ke’shon Shelburn led the way with 19 points, while Jacquorrie Shelburn recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers led 30-28 at halftime before taking control with multiple scoring runs in the second half, including a decisive 16-2 surge. Wilson finished with 37 rebounds, 17 assists, and four blocked shots, with contributions throughout the lineup.

— Lady Tigers dominate Braggs Tuesday was a sweep for Wilson as the Lady Tigers overwhelmed Braggs 54-8. Wilson jumped out to a 16-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back, holding Braggs to just six points through three quarters.

The Lady Tigers led 31-6 at halftime and 46-6 after three before closing out the lopsided win, showcasing depth and defensive pressure throughout the game.
