An accident that occurred in December 2025 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Conifer Road in Okmulgee County has been updated following an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
According to OHP, the two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 1:34 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2025. Investigators determined that the driver of Unit 1 rolled through a stop sign on Conifer Road and entered the southbound lanes of U.S. 75, where the vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by another vehicle.
The driver of Unit 1 was identified as Thomas A. Wainwright, 83, of Henryetta. Wainwright sustained injuries in the crash and was later pronounced deceased. OHP confirmed that next of kin have been notified. One passenger was also inside Wainwright’s vehicle and was injured, but no passengers were killed. Seatbelts were reported to be in use by all occupants.
The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Michael Nicholson, 61, of Corrigan, Texas. Nicholson was not injured in the collision. He had one passenger in the vehicle, and no injuries were reported. Seatbelts were also in use by all occupants in Unit 2.
No commercial motor vehicles, motorcycles or pedestrians were involved in the crash.
The collision was investigated by Trooper Haden Findley #375 of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Okmulgee County Detachment of Troop B.
