Dewar set for MCNB Lumberjax Holiday Festival Dec. 29-30

Dewar set for MCNB Lumberjax Holiday Festival Dec. 29-30

The Dewar Dragons and Lady Dragons will take part in a two-day holiday basketball showcase later this month as they compete in the MCNB Lumberjax Holiday Festival, scheduled for Monday, Dec. 29, and Tuesday, Dec. 30. The tournament brings together multiple teams for a packed slate of girls and boys games and will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.

Sponsored by McCurtain County National Bank, the Lumberjax Holiday Festival features back-to-back games throughout both days, providing teams an opportunity to face a variety of opponents during the holiday break while gaining valuable in-season experience.

Dewar will open tournament play on Monday, Dec. 29, with both the Lady Dragons and Dragons seeing action against Wright City.

• 7 p.m. – Wright City vs. Dewar (Girls)

• 8:30 p.m. – Wright City vs. Dewar (Boys) Earlier games on Monday include matchups featuring Boswell, Battiest, Cyril, Mulberry (Ark.) and Wright City, setting the stage for a full evening of competition before Dewar takes the floor.

The Dragons return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30, facing Boswell and Cyril as the tournament continues.

• 4 p.m. – Dewar vs. Cyril (Girls)

• 7 p.m. – Boswell vs. Dewar (Boys) Tuesday’s schedule also includes additional games involving Mulberry (Ark.), Battiest, Wright City, Boswell, and Cyril, continuing the festival atmosphere through the final night of play.

— Holiday Opportunity

The MCNB Lumberjax Holiday Festival offers Dewar’s programs a chance to compete in a high-energy environment against unfamiliar opponents, helping both squads sharpen their skills during the heart of the basketball season. With multiple games across two days, the event also provides extended court time for player development and team chemistry.

Fans unable to attend in person will be able to watch all games live via the NFHS Network, making it easy for the Dewar community to follow the Dragons and Lady Dragons throughout the tournament.

The Lumberjax Holiday Festival is one of several holiday tournaments across the region, but for Dewar, it marks an important stretch of competition as both teams continue working toward their season goals heading into the new year.
