The three-day candidate filing period for local school boards and municipal offices in Okmulgee County officially closed Wednesday, setting the stage for a series of nonpartisan elections that will take place early next year. With seats open across multiple school districts and within the City of Okmulgee, residents will soon have the opportunity to choose who will help guide their schools and community for the coming terms.
According to the Okmulgee County Election Board, anyone wishing to challenge a candidate’s eligibility must file a Contest of Candidacy by 5 p.m. Friday. Contests may be filed by opposing candidates or by contacting the Election Board directly.
