The Beggs gym was packed wallto- wall with family, friends, and fans on Sunday as a large, spirited crowd came out to support local athletes at the Battle of the Bows cheer competition. The energy was contagious as teams from across Oklahoma- including Mounds, Wilson, Rebel Rec, Kellyville, Pryor, Catoosa and host Beggs – filled the mat with incredible routines and plenty of hometown pride.
Beggs had plenty to celebrate, earning first place finishes in three of the four divisions and showcasing the growth and talent of its cheer program.
In the 1st and 2nd grade division, the youngest competitors wowed the audience with their enthusiasm and bright smiles. Kellyville claimed 1st place, followed by Rebel Rec in 2nd and Beggs in 3rd. The Beggs Little Demons showed big heart and spirit, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.
The 3rd and 4th grade Beggs team stole the show with sharp motions, synchronized tumbling and loud, clear chants that filled the gym. Their sharp motions and teamwork helped Beggs earn the 1st place finish, with Pryor and Catoosa taking 2nd and 3rd.
In the 5th and 6th grade division, Beggs delivered a dynamic routine that combined strong stunts and spir- ited choreography. Their energy never dipped from start to finish, earning another 1st place trophy for the Beggs Demons. Kellyville finished second with a clean routine, and Catoosa claimed third place. “I can’t believe how far these kids have come this year,” exclaimed one proud spectator.
Finally, the Beggs Junior High squad closed out the competition in style, delivering a dynamic, crowd-pleasing routine full of energy and precision. Their powerful stunts and polished performance sealed a 1st place finish, while Kellyville claimed 2nd.
The Beggs JH squad closed out the competition in spectacular fashion. From the moment they hit the mat, their routine commanded attention with perfectly timed stunts, high-flying jumps and synchronized choreography. The squad displayed remarkable teamwork, seamlessly supporting each other during complex pyramids and transitions. The crowd responded with loud cheers, applause and standing ovations as the JH Demons performed with both precision and infectious energy. The crowd erupted with excitement throughout the routine, clapping and cheering loudly for each stunt and jump. Parents, classmates and fans shouted encouragement and whistles as the Demons executed their final stunt. By the last beat of the music, the gym was roaring – some spectators even giving standing ovations – creating an electric atmosphere that matched the team’s energy. Beggs JH claimed the 1st place victory. This was a fitting conclusion to the day, capping a dominant performance by each Beggs squad that showcased not only their skill but also their dedication, confidence and school pride. Kellyville finished a strong second in this division.
“To say I am proud would be an understatement,” Beggs Cheer Coach Kerri Jackson, said. “These girls showed up to win. Each one of them have shown what being a cheerleader is all about. From being patient with a routine that we pieced together, to finding music on the very last practice day, to not even getting to use the music. These girls rocked the mat. One heart. One team. One Family. We are Beggs.”
From the youngest beginners to the seasoned junior high athletes, these cheerleaders demonstrated teamwork, dedication and school pride throughout the event. The Battle of the Bows proved to be a highlight of the season – not only for the athletes on the mat but also for the community members who packed the stands to cheer them on.
