Authorities and community members in Henryetta are searching for answers after a break-in and act of vandalism at the Norman A. Cullen Post 85 American Legion sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
According to a statement from the American Legion, the facility was broken into and damaged overnight in what members described as “a hate crime against our veterans and the American Legion.” The post is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
Investigators believe the suspect may have injured themselves during the break-in. “Whomever it was cut themselves pretty bad on the hand – lots of blood,” the post reported. “If you see a suspicious wound, please report it.”
The community has expressed outrage and concern over the incident, calling for justice and solidarity with local veterans. Anyone with information about the break-in or those involved is urged to contact the Henryetta Police Department immediately.
