A special ceremony for the family members of veterans who gave their lives in Vietnam has been announced by Don Nichols of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH).
The event will take place at the MOPH National Monument in Tahlequah on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at the corner of Muskogee Ave. and Bertha Parker Bypass (2001 S. Muskogee Ave.) at 1:30 p.m.
The one of a kind monument, which was established to honor all veterans, is directly connected to the Virtual Wall Database, which showcases detailed information about each person who lost their life in Vietnam, including branch of service, hometown, rank, casualty date and personal reflections or photos, submitted by family members. Visitors to the monument can scan the newly installed QR code to access the Virtual Wall.
A special wreath laying ceremony, involving family members invited to participate, will highlight the ceremony.
