Isaiah 14:27 – For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?
This portion of the prophecies of Isaiah was directed at Babylon. God’s judgment was coming to those who had oppressed His precious people. But let us never forget that history seems always to repeat itself. Every day reads more and more like biblical prophecy. (Funny how that works, huh?) None of us is assured of more than the moment we experience right now. As gloomy as that may sound, there is actually a very bright side to that, and it is called faith. The faith I speak of is not of what is in this world and what it presents, no matter how “pretty” it may appear, but it is in the way, the truth, and the life Jesus spoke of. When we follow Him, no matter what else may come along, we are assured of comfort and peace, both now and forever. While the remainder of the world may rage against the machine, we can hear nothing but the calm stillness of gentle ripples lapping at our feet. Getting wrapped up in that rage makes a thunderous noise that could otherwise distract us, but our Savior is so much stronger that He can cover our ears for us and relieve us of all anger, fear, and doubt. Allow Him to be your quiet place. He can fill you with so much light that the darkness, no matter how fierce, can never put it out. Know beyond any shadow of doubt that He is, He was, and He will ever be Lord of all.
